So Long and Thanks for the Humidors

Sean and I wish to send out a most hearty thank you to everyone who made it out to the last twelve weeks of Metro Classics.  Your support turned this series into our most profitable to date.  Take that Gone with the Wind!  We're taking a three month hiatus but we'll be back in good old Theatre #10 this August with two back-to-back nine-week series.  We've already got the themes, titles and dates mapped out, we're just awaiting confirmation from the studios.  There are a whole bunch of fun films lined up so stayed tuned to this page for updates as they arrive.  We will also attempt to get at least a few new posts up here each week so this blog doesn't turn into some digital wasteland.  Expect some Critics Agree posts and maybe a round-up from Sean's trip to the San Francisco International Film Festival.

Thanks again everyone for making Metro Classics such a rousing success!

Thanks!

Last night we wrapped up our current Connections series in most stellar fashion with the most popular movie of all time, Gone with the Wind. A joyous time was had by all. As we prepare ourselves for a bout of cinematic hibernation, we want to thank each and every person that has bought a ticket to Metro Classics over the last three years. We're truly stunned by the continued interest in our two-bit organization. We started this repertory program out of a love of movies, first and foremost, and we're amazed that we're still here three years down the line. We're not expecting to become billionaires with this and thankfully, neither are the fine folks at Landmark Theatres who had enough faith in us to gave us a chance. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them as well.

We're taking a breather for the rest of the winter, letting you all catch up on those year-end critic's picks and such. Don't fret, we'll be back in the spring for more awesome old movies. We've already got a theme and potential calendar mapped out so stay tuned to this site for updates and announcements. If you've got any suggestions on films you'd like to see in an upcoming calendar, please post a comment here. We will most definitely consider it. Unless it's Network. That movie sucks.

During the hiatus we plan on keeping this site fresh with at least a few posts a week. So check back often for history lessons, pre-game warm-ups, laudable links, and any news pertinent to our humble enterprise.

Excelsior!
-Mike and Sean
